Job Details

Oversee the strategic and tactical development initiatives related to the creation, delivery and support of internally and externally facing booking and post-cruise ecommerce web applications, distributed enterprise systems and applications and other technology tools and frameworks required by the business to meet its key goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain an overall technology development and delivery strategy for the organization as related to HollandAmerica.com and any externally and internally facing web based/distributed systems.

  • Ensure reliable integration with the POLAR reservations system and related subsidiary systems.

  • Manage all activities related to technical planning, development, delivery, implementation and support of critical web based and distributed enterprise business systems including HollandAmerica.com. Act as a leader and Project Manager for Software Engineering/Development and related QA teams as well as any contracted or outsourced resources engaged for the delivery of the company’s technology offerings.

  • Develop and support other company applications including Marine Hotel Purchasing, Itinerary Planning, Shore Excursion, Vieuws (shore-side intranet), E-Fleet (the seagoing intranet) and other applications as assigned.

  • Develop and deliver architecture and systems that provide and ensure sufficient scalability, reliability and 99.5% availability. Establish computer system software requirements and software development methodology to ensure business continuity and performance objectives are met.

  • Establish, test and maintain a performance based development framework, quality and performance metrics and stability/scalability plans for all critical IS Applications for the Company.

  • Develop and implement an outsourced/variable cost resourcing model.

Requirements:

  • Degree in BA/IS or equivalent material industry experience

  • 10 years of experience in web applications and systems with 5 years leading and managing a software development team in a large corporate environment

  • Prior experience in successfully developing and releasing global scale web-based ecommerce/e-business systems

  • Prior successful experience in working with disparate teams to create and drive software development requirements

  • Prior experience in planning, hardware and systems software selection and the ability to receive and communicate requirements to Executive Management

  • Well versed in current distributed systems architecture and development best practices, tools and technologies
