Job Detail

The Fleet Operation Center Supervisor will provide oversight, operational support and guidance for the Fleet Support Program Managers (FOC Watchstanders) working in the Fleet Operations Center. The will liaison between the Director, Fleet Operations Center and the FOC watchstanders to coordinate and deal with day to day vessel operations, initial incident response, incident reporting, FOC watchstander training and adherence to standard operational procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures the FOC operates in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedure for Carnival Corp FOC’s.

  • Is responsible for the watch rotation of the FSPMs, ensuring proper manning levels at all times.

  • Monitors and ensures quality standards of the FOC: prompt response times as well as the quality of responses.

  • Acts as the first point of contact for the FSPMs with regards to operational matters: scheduling, supplies, facilities, IT issues, etc.

  • Provides FOC coverage in case of sickness, scheduling conflicts, or as directed by the Director FOC.

  • Acts as operational point of contact for systems support in the FOC, eg. Neptune, NAPA, etc.

  • Administers touch drills for all FSPMs and reports to the Director on achieved scores and possible remedial training required.

  • Administers the monthly ship VDR review and prepares ship recording for review by the Sr. Director Marine Operations or MQA.

  • Responsible for ensuring all USCG annual and semi-annual inspections are promptly scheduled and communicated to the fleet.

  • Responsible for the training of newly hired FSPMs.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by Director, FOC.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of sailing experience as a Deck Officer on a Holland America Line ship with the most recent assignment as Staff Captain (desired not required).

  • Completed Merchant Marine Academy training for deck officer and fully licensed as Master for ships in the international trade and for unlimited tonnage, or equivalent alternative experience.

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the Marine Industry in operations.

  • Familiar the latest national and international maritime conventions, rules and regulations governing passenger shipping

  • Familiar with the latest developments of modern electronic navigation and maritime bridge communication equipment

  • Strong leadership capacity and problem solving skills

  • Strong computer skills

  • Strong writing skills including technical writing in English

  • Strong communication skills in English
